Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Survey of Mining Claim, the applicant has to approach the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management district offices link
    Note: The Bureau of Land Management Headquarters Office in Washington, D.C., the BLM operates 12 state offices that have jurisdiction across the nation. The applicant can choose their nearby district offices to submit the application form.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant or the applicant can download the form from the given following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
  4. The applicant has to make sure to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit the completed form and the necessary documents to nearby Bureau of land management district offices.
  7. The Fee for this procedure is mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. The BLM (Bureau of land management) will examine the application for completeness and accuracy.
  9. Once all the verification process is done by the authority, the applicant receives a notification through a mail.
  10. The applicant has to get the certificate by visiting the office.
  11. The processing time for this procedure is up to 15-30 days.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any individual or a business firm who intends to apply for Survey of Mining Claim is eligible to make this application.



FeesEdit

  • A minimum deposit of $750 for the first location, plus $300 for each additional location or mill site to cover the cost of office expense, must be made with the Bureau of Land Management before an order for the survey will be issued.

  • Applicant must complete the application form before submitting. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Applicant must provide genuine information while applying for this procedure.
  • Name the claimant (individual, partnership, company or corporation) should appear on the application in the same manner as it will appear in the patent when issued. The application must be signed by the claimant or an authorized agent.
  • Two copies of the record of the location certificate must be filed with the application, one of which must be certified by the custodian of the records where mining claims are recorded, usually the Clerk of the County in which the claim is located.

  • Survey of Mining claims is the practice of determining the relative positions of points on or beneath the surface of the earth by direct or indirect measurements of distance, direction & elevation.



Information which might helpEdit

  • A mill site may be applied for separately or in conjunction with the survey of a mining claim. Mill sites must be located on nonmineral ground, may not embrace more than five acres in compact form, and must be occupied or used in connection with mining activity.
  • Any change in the application for survey, including the addition or exclusion of locations, or the designation of a different mineral surveyor, requires an amended application which will be the basis for issuance of an amended survey order.
  • The claimant is required, in all cases, to select the mineral surveyor to execute the survey from the Bureau of Land Management register of mineral surveyors and to make satisfactory settlement arrangements for payment for his services. The United States will not be responsible for the settlement.

  • A mining claim, which can be either lode or placer, may be located on Federal land and must contain a valuable mineral deposit. In contrast, a mill site may be located on nonmineral land and must be used to support a lode or placer mining claim operation or support itself independent of a particular claim. A tunnel site contains a tunnel to a lode mine or is used to discover previously unknown lode mineral deposits.
