Apply In person:

  1. To Apply for Replacement of a Bill of Sale, the applicant has to approach the Alabama Department of Revenue – Motor Vehicle link
  2. The applicant has to get the application form from the respective office.
  3. Carry all the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. Visit the DMV office and submit the proof documents to the respective officer.
  5. Pay the prescribed amount of fee to the respective authority.
  6. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  7. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
  8. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  9. This legal document records a transfer of ownership of an asset from one party to another.
  10. The applicant has to visit the office to complete further process.
  11. The processing time for these bills of sale takes up to 20 – 30 days.
