ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. The applicant has to reach out to the Office of the Director (OD), Office of Management (OM), Division of Veterinary Resources (DVR), Office of Scientific Resources (SR), Office of Research Services (ORS) are introduced into NIH facilities for the application. Contact details are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page. Or use the following Contact Link
  2. An application form is also available at the following Link
  3. The applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
  4. Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting to Issuing Office: OD/OM/ORS/SR/DVR.
  5. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the NIH authority’s request.
  6. Approved Sources through the Division of Veterinary Resources (DVR), Office of Scientific Resources (SR), and Office of Research Services (ORS) are introduced into NIH facilities may be approved by the IC RIO directly within 12 hours.
  7. The ORIA system sends the application to the Facility Veterinarian of the ultimate location where the animals or tissue will be housed and/or used if it is accepted.

  • Application form
  • Animal medical certificate (which free of Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus (LCMV), Hantaviruses)
  • Annual testing for the specified agents. otherwise it must be proven (by serology or PCR) that the specific animals being exported are likely free of these agents.
  • Rodent products must also be shown to be free of Ectromelia virus.

  • All animal holding facilities that desire to verify that the animals will be used in accordance with the permit's restrictions and safeguards.



FeesEdit

  • For fee payment details, the applicant has to contact the NIH- national institute health.



ValidityEdit

  • The issued permit is valid for a twelve (12) month period.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The purpose of this permission is to develop rules and procedures to prevent the admission of infected rodents and rodent products into the NIH that could harm the health of rats utilised in research, interfere with research directly or indirectly, or constitute a health risk to staff.
