Step – 1 Course
- Before applying for Paralegal License or Certification, Graduates must have a degree from a paralegal program. The program must be accredited by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations.
- Also, the applicant needs to get an experience in the field.
- Complete the required number of supervised hours. Most states require several thousand hours of supervised experience under the guidance of a licensed.
Step – 2 Examinations
- Graduates must pass the NFPA National Federation of Paralegal Associations exam.

- The exam typically assesses your knowledge and skills in various areas of the law.
Step – 3 Licensure Examination
- To apply for the National Federation of Paralegal Associations examination, the applicant has to use the following link link
- The applicant has to click the “Click here for the PCCE Exam Application”
- The applicant has to click the “Signed In” option.
- If the applicant is a new user, the applicant has to click the “Click here to Register” button.
- Now select the member type and click the “Continue” button.
- Enter the details and click the “Continue” button.
- Enter all the details with the captcha code and click the “Submit” button.
- Now the applicant has to log in with the User name and password and click the “SIGN IN” button.
- Enter all the details in the application form.
- And upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Pay the prescribed amount fee in online mode.
- Once completed with all the details click the “Submit” button.
- Applicants selected for audit will be notified within the first week of the month after their Approval to Test letter was received.
- The Audit Reviewer then has 10 days to notify audited applicants if supplemental documentation is required.
Step - 4
- After completing the exam successfully, the applicant has to get a license from the NFPA National Federation of Paralegal Associations link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned branch officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant will get the dental license through the mail.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 - 40 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit
The eligibility requirements for paralegal license or certification vary from state to state. In California, you can become a paralegal if you meet one of the following requirements:
- Have an ABA-approved paralegal certificate.
- Have a certificate from a program that includes at least 24 hours of legal coursework.
- Have a bachelor's degree in any field and one year of paralegal experience.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of paralegal experience.
