Step – 1 Check the eligibility
- To Apply for Landscape Architect License, the applicant has to approach the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards - CLARB link
- The applicant must have a degree in landscape architecture from a program accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB). The most common degrees are the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) or Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA).

Step – 2
Registration for exam
- To Start the Exam Registration Process with a Council Record, The applicant has to use the following link to register an account in CLARB – link
- The applicant has to click the “Create new user” account
- Enter all the registration details and click the “Provide contact information” button.
- The applicant has to register for the exam with the details and click the “Submit” button.
- Also, all the necessary documents are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- After completing all the details, the applicant has to click the “Submit” button.
- The LARE is a national examination administered by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB).
- It assesses the knowledge and skills in various areas of landscape architecture. Familiarize yourself with the exam format and content, and consider enrolling in exam preparation courses or using study materials for preparation.
Step – 3 Certification process
- To Apply for Landscape Architect License, the applicant has to approach the Local licensing board or Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards - CLARB link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit the application form and the documents to the authorized officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- The applicant may conduct a background check or request additional information during the review process. Be patient during this period, as it may take some time.
- If the application is approved, the applicant will be issued a landscape architect license.
- This entire process can be completed within 3 – 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
