Step – 1 Course
- Before Applying for a Health Physics Technician License, A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as health physics, nuclear science, radiation protection, or a related discipline is typically required. Some positions may also require an associate degree or certification.
- These programs are typically offered by colleges, universities, and medical schools.
- It's essential to have research experience in your field of interest. This often includes working as a research assistant, associate, or postdoctoral researcher in a laboratory or research institution.
- They combine classroom education with hands-on clinical training.
- Also, the applicant needs to get an experience in the field.
- Gain practical experience in health physics. This can often be achieved through internships, co-op programs, or entry-level positions in radiation safety or health physics departments.
- Complete safety training courses, such as those offered by the Health Physics Society or the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists. These courses can provide you with essential knowledge and skills in radiation safety.
Step – 2 License
- After completing the exam successfully, the applicant has to get a license from the respective colleges or the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned branch officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant will get the technician license through the mail.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 - 40 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
