Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Desert Land Entry, the applicant has to approach The United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management district office link
    Note: The Bureau of Land Management Headquarters Office in Washington, D.C., the BLM operates 12 state offices that have jurisdiction across the nation. The applicant can choose their nearby district offices to submit the application form.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant or the applicant can download the form from the given following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
  4. The applicant has to make sure to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit the completed form and the necessary documents to nearby Bureau of land management district offices.
  7. Fee for this procedure is mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. The BLM (Bureau of land management) will examine the application for completeness and accuracy, and classify the lands included in the application. The BLM will approve the application if the lands are classified suitable for desert land entry. The BLM will reject the application if the lands are classified unsuitable for desert-land entry.
  9. Once all the verification process is done by the authority, the applicant receives a notification through a mail.
  10. The applicant has to get the permit by visiting the office.
  11. The processing time for this procedure is up to 15-30 days.

EligibilityEdit

  • The applicant must be a citizen of the United States or have declared their intention to become a citizen.
  • The applicant must be 21 years old. You must be a resident in the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.



FeesEdit

  • The application must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $15.00 and a partial payment of 25 cents per acre.



ValidityEdit

  • The validity of the desert land entry is for four years.

  • Applicant must complete the application form before submitting. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Applicant must provide genuine information while applying for this procedure.
  • The applicant must be a bona fide resident of the State in which the land applied for is located, except as to the lands in Nevada, where the qualification as to citizenship is that of the United States without regard to State of residence.
  • Indicate proper citizenship status. Non-citizens are not qualified to make application unless a formal declaration of intention to become a citizen has been filed.
