Step – 1 Course
- Before applying for a Dental Assistant License, Graduate from an accredited dental school in the United States. Dental schools must be accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Also, the applicant needs to get an experience in the field.
- Complete the required number of supervised hours. Most states require several thousand hours of supervised experience under the guidance of a licensed.
Step – 2 Examination
- Take and pass the National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) Parts I and II.
- These are comprehensive exams that assess your knowledge and skills in various aspects of dentistry.
Step – 3 Licensure Examination
- Pass the clinical licensing examination administered by the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) or the clinical examination accepted by the state dental board where you plan to practice.
- The examination evaluates your clinical skills and ability to perform dental procedures.

- The applicant has to click the “Exam Registration/Scores”.
- Now, he/she has to select the option of the exam dates and click the “Click here” button.

- If the applicant is a new user, the applicant has to click the “Create Account” button.
- Enter all the details and click the “Next” button.
- Now create a password and click the “Submit” button.
- Now the applicant has to log in with the email ID and password and click the “LOG IN” button.

Step – 4
- To apply in person form exam, The applicant has to download the form from the following link link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned branch officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
Step - 5
- After completing the exam successfully, the applicant has to get a license from the respective dental college.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned branch officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant will get the dental license through the mail.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 - 40 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
