Step 1: Undergo apprenticeship training
- To Apply for Boiler Operator License, the applicant has to Undergo apprenticeship training in certified organizations.
- This allows the applicant to gain hands-on training from experienced boilermakers to learn how to operate, repair and test boilers before they're able to work on them themselves.
Step 2: Complete the exam applications
- To earn the license as a high-pressure boiler operating engineer, you must pass both a written and practical exam.
- When applying for the written test, select the option indicating yourself as a high-pressure boiler operating engineer candidate.
- The applicant then needs to pay a fee to take the exam. Once you pass the written exam, you'll apply for the practical exam, which requires checking the same box and submitting an additional application fee.
Step 3: Pass the written and practical exams
- After applying for the exams, you can schedule the times you plan to take them.
- Once you receive an application acceptance letter, an exam administrator will send an email with exam scheduling instructions.
- Once you receive a passing score of 70%, you can schedule your practical exam, which consists of an in-depth review of applying your safety and operational knowledge in a hands-on setting. You'll receive a letter informing you of your score three to four weeks after taking the practical exam.
Step 4: Submit the application
- After passing the exam the applicant has to approach the Department of Labour in their state link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
- The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
