Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- Applicant has to reach out to SWID in West Bengal contact link
- After getting the application form, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary details that are needed for getting the permit.
- Applicant has to make sure to carry all the related documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both Photocopies and originals).
- The photocopies of the necessary documents should be attached along with the application form before submitting.
- After the submission process, the concerned officer will ask for a site inspection to the applicant via SMS or Call.
- Applicant must confirm the site visit and concerned officials will visit the site of the applicant.
- After the site visit is over, the officer will provide approval for closing the well.
- Applicant has to pay the fee as prescribed by the concerned authority.
- After that, the applicant can get their certificate within a week by visiting the office.
- If permission is cancelled, applicant can visit the office for reapplication process.
Apply through Centres:
- To apply through centres, the applicant has to approach the respective “CSC” centre in their area. Refer the following link for location: CSC Locator link
- NOTE: The applicant has to select the state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
- Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
- If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
- Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
- The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
- Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
- This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
- The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
- Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will issue the permission order.
- The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.

- Form of the Land in which the well exists (Available in the Directorate of Land and Survey Records Office)
- If applicant is not the owner of the land in which the well exists, then an NOC or a Power of Attorney from the owner of the land along with the ID Proofs on a stamp paper is necessary.

Eligibility

Instructions
- Applicant must follow all instructions provided by the authority properly.
- Applicant must complete the application form before submitting, incomplete forms will be rejected by authorities.

Need for the Document
- Certificate of Permission is necessary for closing of abandoned wells and other bore wells.
- It is valid forever and is needed even after sinking the well for proving that the sinking has been done legally.
