Apply In-Person:

1. To start a Car Hire (Rental) business in Tanzania, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism Office Contact link
2. Procure the application form from the respective officer.
3. Fill the application form and attach all the required documents given under “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. Submit the filled in application and documents at the Office of “Ministry of Natural Resource and Tourism”.
5. Once your request has been received, you will be notified within a day about the site inspection.
6. The ministry will send a team of inspectors to conduct a physical inspection of the proposed business establishment and vehicles.
7. Upon satisfactory results of the inspection, a payment invoice will be generated and you will collect it form the office where you made the application.
8. Once the applicant has obtained the payment invoice, they have to visit the National Microfinance Bank (NMB) to pay for the licensing fee and obtain the payment receipt.

9. Submit the signed payment invoice and after payment to the office of Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
10. Your application will commence processing and once the license is ready you will be contacted by the office to collect the License.

• Lease agreement
• Proof of business premises
• Title deed
• Proof of having fleet of vehicle
  • Tour vehicles most not be more than 5 years old from date of registration
  • Vehicles must be registered under company names
  • Have a fleet of not less than 3 and increase 5 or more within a period of 24 months since registration
• Proof of all vehicles insured (Preferably comprehensive insurance)
  • Preferably comprehensive insurance

Individual or partnership:

• Extract from register (Simple Copy)

Limited company:

• Certificate of incorporation
• Memorandum and Articles of Association or charter or statutes
• Proof of nationality of each shareholder (original). Example: passport, work permit, national id
