Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for enrolling in Co-operative Incentive Scheme in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Department of Small Business Development.

3. Visit the office of DSBD and get the application form for enrolling in Co-operative Incentive Scheme from the relevant department. Or click here to download: Link
4. Complete the form as required with relevant details. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. After completing the application form, attach all the documents required for the process with the completed form.
6. Then, proceed to submit the package to the relevant authority at the office for further processes. Make the payment as necessary.
7. After all the processes have got completed, the concerned authorities will proceed to make the arrangements for the enrolment process.
8. The applicant can obtain any information regarding the progress of his/her request, from the office where the application has been made.

• The entities applying for the scheme should be incorporated and registered in South Africa in terms of the Co-operatives Act.
• The entities should be the co-operatives that are emerging with a majority black ownership.
• The entities should be having projects in any of the different economic sectors and they should adhere to the Co-operative principles.

The Co-operative Incentive Scheme (CIS) is a 100% grant for registered primary co-operatives (a primary co-operative consists of five or more members). The objective of the CIS is to improve the viability and competitiveness of co-operative enterprises by lowering their cost of doing business through an incentive that supports Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment.
