1. In order to apply for arm gun license in Sikkim, applicant has to apply with Director General of Police (Licensing Authority for Arms in the State) in Sikkim.
2. Applicant wishing to obtain an Arms License may apply to the Arms Section, Police Headquarters Gangtok where all details will be available.

6. Make sure that applicant is eligible for applying.
7. Please make sure that the documents are in hand before applying.
8. Complete the application form and submit along with required documents to the authority.
9. After the application is received, proper entry of records in registry will be made and then request will be forwarded to process.
10. Application will be forwarded to local police station for verification.
11. Competent authorities make through assessments regarding
    1. threat based requirements of the arms by the applicant
    2. capabilities of use
    3. safe handling of the arms by the applicant
    4. physical fitness of the applicant for capabilities of handling the arms
    5. Background
    6. antecedent, etc..
12. The report will be sent to respective department.
13. An interview of the applicant is conducted before the respective authority.
14. On satisfactory ground based on the above process, the filled Arms License Book is issued to the applicant.
15. Then, the applicant has to purchase the weapon within six months of the issued date of the arms license book.
16. After purchasing the weapon, applicant has to come to the Arms Licensing Branch to submit the purchased weapon, submit an application for the entry of the weapon along with a receipt from the Gun house and the arms license book.
17. After internal processing and inspection, respective authority signs the arms license book, and the book is issued to the applicant.

19. Submit it to the Arms Act Department for uploading in the National Database and generate Unique ID.
    
    

Apply Online - Sikkim Apply for New Firearm (Gun) License Online with Images

1. To Apply for New Firearm (Gun) License, the applicant has to use the following link – link
2. The applicant has to click the “State Home Department/DM/SDM/Other/MHA” button.
3. Now select the category, state, district, name of the licensing authority, and service.
4. The applicant has to enter the unique identification code (UIC), and captcha code and click the “Get Detail” button.
5. To complete step – 2, the applicant has to enter all the details in license specific details segment.
6. For the third step complete the endorsement details.
7. And upload all the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
8. Fee details will be mentioned in the following step; the applicant has to pay the fee online mode.
9. After completing all the processes, the applicant has to click the “Save & Submit” button.
10. An acknowledgment receipt will be downloaded. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
12. Once the process gets completed successfully, the applicant gets the cancellation firearm license with the authority's signature through email.
13. The processing time for this procedure is up to 45 days.

• The license authority shall refuse to grant a license:
  • Where such license is required in respect of any prohibited arms or prohibited ammunition
  • Where such is required by a person whom the licensing authority has reason to believe:
    • To be prohibited by the Indian Arms Rules or by any other law for the time being in force from acquiring, having in his possession or carrying any arms or ammunition.
    • To be of unsound mind.
    • To be for any reason unfit for a license.

• Fee information can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.
• Fees may vary in variation of the arms
• Application must be accompanied by a Bank Receipt of Rs.500/- drawn on State Bank of Sikkim in the Revenue Head 0055/Police – Gun License Fee

• A license is valid for 3 years from the date on which it is granted (unless revoked earlier) and need to be renewed before one month of expiry
• License may be granted for a shorter period also, if the person by whom the license is required desires or if the licensing authority decides
• License is renewable from time to time - Even the authority can ask for renewal in between the renewal period for recording purpose

Following are the required information to apply for the transfer of arms license

• Applicant details.
• Date of Birth and age.
• Address details.
• Occupation and designation of office held any
• Signature/thumb impression.
• Other particulars of the applicant like Convicted – if so, (the officers), the sentence and ate of sentence
• Need for license
• Area within which applicant wishes to carry arms
• Place where it will be kept
• Details about the previous license if any

• Indian national can claim a license for self-defence, general security, sports-Shooting etc.,
• Any person who wishes to carry firearms must first secure a license and has to renew before the period of license lapse.
• Every application for the grant of a license shall be submitted in respective form (usually Form A).
• Arm license (also known as a gun license) is a license or permit issued by government to an eligible individual.
• It needs to be renewed before the validity lapses.

• Any foreign National is allowed to own and bear arms for a maximum period of 6 months during their stay in India, given valid reasons.
• Any Indian who is returning to India and has owned a gun in his foreign residence for over 2 years can apply for an Indian license and bring back the gun they owned abroad.
