Step 1: Payment for the practice License renewal fees

1. This process should be the first step for an easier renewal procedure. Make payments of renewal fees license; payment should be deposited in favor of the NCNM. Please refer to this page’s “Fees” section for more information.

Step 2: Register with the National Council of Nurses and Midwives of Rwanda - NCNM Portal

1. Using a browser applicant should browse the NCNM Service Portal, read through the instruction, and then click on the “Create Account” tab.
2. On the next page enter the ID Card N° / Passport N° then click on the “Submit” tab, after the Your ID Card N° / Passport N° has been verified click on the “Here” hyperlink to be redirected to the Membership Registration page.
3. Applicants must complete all relevant sections and sub-sections except where it is written ‘optional’;
4. Under Personal information; upload a recent photo size, enter your name, date of birth, gender, Marital status, nationality, ID Card N° / Passport N°,Father’s and Mother’s name/ Guardian, capture the image code then click on “Create New Account” tab.
5. Under the Addresses section: Enter all current contacts, capture the image code then click on the “Create New Account” tab.
6. Under Education and Work Experience section: Enter Secondary School (s), O Level, A Level & A2 Nursing; Nursing/Midwifery school(s) Attended (University);Qualifications(professional/s);Employer details from now to ten years back; Registration/Licensure with Nursing Council or Board of Nursing;Current Employing Agency; Employing Agency Type details, upload all the supporting documentation as listed on the site, captcha the image code then clicks on “Create New Account” tab.
7. Under Account Info: Enter username, and email address, re-enter the password twice, capture the image code then click on the “Create New Account” tab.

Step 3: File the Application and issue the renewed practice licensing

1. Once logged on to the portal, click on the “Application Forms” option on the main menu bar, on the next page applicant should select “Application for License Renewal”.
2. The Application for License Renewal page will be displayed, proceed and complete all mandatory fields; attach all supporting documentation as listed on the site; share payment details, before submitting the application for assessment.
3. After the successful screening of the submitted documents, Where the registry office is satisfied that the applicant has complied with all the requirements as may be applicable; and has continued demonstrating a capacity to meet the obligations and compliance requirements as stipulated by the Council, it shall, within seven days of receiving the complete application, approve the application.
4. The applicant will be notified to collect his/her Practicing license via text or phone call. One is required to bring proof of identification and surrender the expired license before being issued the renewed license.

Note: To view the applicant status applicants should log on to the portal and click on the “Submitted Application” tab.

• Copy of the original recent colored passport photograph with white background.
• Copy of original Certificates of Registration issued by Council.
• Copy of the original of attendance for the Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPD) Logbook.
• Proof of payment of the license renewal fees

• The individual should be registered with the Council and a holder of a practicing license.
• To be of good reputation and commendable conduct.
• To have never been sentenced in a felony or misdemeanor (for a custodial penalty in a crime involving moral turpitude or breach of trust, unless rehabilitated in either case). In short, not to have a criminal record.

Council Fees Schedule

• The practicing license expiry date is after every 1 year and shall be subjected to renewal and payment of an annual practice fee as may be prescribed by the Council, this should be submitted on time before the lapse of the current license, to allow enough time for the renewal due process to be completed.
