Instructions

[edit]

  • The process for analysing fertilizer residues typically involves extracting the residues, clean-up procedures to remove other components from the soil, and an analytical procedure to identify and measure the amount of fertilizer residue.
  • Analysis of fertilizer residues is a highly sensitive procedure requiring extremely accurate solutions. Accurate weighing and dosing of reference standards, as well as dilution with solvents, is therefore critical.
  • Samples shall not be taken at a place exposed to rain / sun.
  • The sampling instruments should be clean and dry.
  •  The fertilizer being sampled, the sampling instruments and the bags of samples should be free from any contamination.
  • To draw a representative sample the contents of each bag selected for sampling should be thoroughly mixed.
  • The sample should be kept in suitable clean dry and air tight glass or screwed hard polythene bottle  of about 400 gm capacity or in a thick gauged polythene bag.  This should be put in a cloth bag which may be sealed with the Inspector’s seal after keeping inside the detailed description
  • Identifiable details may be put on the cloth bag such as:  Date of sampling, Name of the fertilizer, Code No. of sample.
  • The sample drawn must be sent to notified laboratory along with Form within 7 days of its withdrawal.

Information which might help

[edit]

  • The fertilizer inspector can draw the sample of any fertilizer as per procedure.
  • The Fertiliser Inspector is a public servant as defined in Section 21 of Indian Penal Code.  Every person is bound to provide all necessary facilities required by an Inspector to discharge his official duties
  • The periodical withdrawal of sample from every manufacturer and dealer has an impact on quality consciousness of dealer.  Therefore, Inspector must draw optimum number of samples from each dealer and manufacturer periodically and send it to Notified fertilizer quality control laboratory.
  • Sample is collected from Dealers/manufacturers/importers of the fertilizers by Fertilizer Inspector ·
  • Auto generated sample code is assigned to each sample and send to Central Coding Office · Sample is received in Central Coding Office.
  • CCO Code is assigned to the sample and it is forwarded to Laboratory for testing. In some States there may be variation in this step. In some states sample is sent to Chief Agricultural Officer (CAO) in District, who in turn sends sample to Fertiliser Testing Laboratory as in case of Punjab. In some states, samples are sent to Laboratories directly by inspectors. ·
  • Laboratory accepts/rejects the sample, Laboratory In charge assigns lab code to the accepted samples and allocate the samples to Analyst for testing
  • Analyst tests the Sample and prepares detailed test report · Analyst sends the test report to laboratory In charge ·
  • Laboratory In charge decode the code and forwards the result to CCO ·
  • CCO decodes the code and prepares the final report in the prescribed format, prepares outgoing Memo and sends to concerned agencies
