1. You need to formally file an application that you are retiring or closing a business registered under Paranaque City Government. You must apply for the procedure to avoid any tax liabilities in the future. To do this you will need to fill out the Business Retirement Form. Please check out the "Documents to Use" section below. There you will find a link which you can use to download the said form.
2. Fill out the application form correctly and have it notarized.
3. File your application for business retirement / closure at the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO).
4. Submit the notarized application form together with the current Mayor’s Permit Certificate (original).
5. The BPLO clerk receiving your documents will check if the requirements you are submitting are complete and correct.
6. Your application will be received and the clerk will notify you of the date when you can come back to the office to follow up your application.

You may retire a business as long as your business does not have any outstanding taxes, fees, and charges payable to the local city government. Termination / retirement means that the business operation was stopped completely. Change in management and/or change of business name is not a valid ground to retire a business.

Because of what's happened with COVID 19 and with a lot of businesses forced to shut down due to lack of customers and not enough sales. Business owners must formally file an application to retire or close a business at their local city government. Stopping operation does not automatically terminate a business registration. As far as the Business Permit and Licensing Office of your local city government is concerned your business is still in operation and your business license/permit valid. A license is required to be renewed annually, that's the reason why business owners must officially retire a business in order to avoid any tax liabilities or penalties in the future.

Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate.
e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
