Kerala - Check EPF (Employee Provident Fund) Balance


Procedure

Apply Online:

  1. To check PF balance online, the applicant must log on to the EPFO portal.
  2. Go to the tab ‘’Our Services’’ and choose the option that says “for employees” from the drop-down menu.
  3. Now, click on the option ‘’Member passbook’’ under the option “Services.”
  4. A login page will appear. Enter your UAN number and password here after it has been activated.
  5. Once logged in, the applicant can access their EPF account to view balance.


Apply Through SMS:

  1. To Check EPF (Employee Provident Fund) Balance, the applicant has to use the following link to download the app – link
  2. The applicant has to select the “Employee Centric Services”.
  3. On the next screen, the applicant will find the “View Passbook”.
  4. The applicant gets the OTP number in the registered mobile number.
  5. Now the applicant has to Click on ‘Login’ and it will be able to view the EPF transactions, including withdrawals and deposits from the current and previous employment.
  6. The processing time for this procedure is within a minute.


Apply Through Missed Call:

  1. The applicant can inquire about their EPF balance by giving a missed call to the authorised phone from their registered mobile number.
  2. This service is only available upon the integration of the UAN with the KYC details on the EPFO portal.
  3. The applicant needs to take the help of their employer to do so.
  4. Once the UAN is integrated with your KYC details, give a missed call to 011-22901406 from the registered mobile number.
  5. After placing a missed call, the applicant will receive an SMS with the required PF details.


Apply Through Mobile Apps:
Through M-Sewa app of EPFO:

  1. The applicant can check their PF balance by downloading the “m-Sewa app of EPFO” from here Link
  2. Once the app is downloaded, click on “Member” and then go to “Balance/Passbook” option.
  3. Enter the UAN and registered mobile number.
  4. The system will verify the mobile number against the UAN.
  5. If all the details are verified, the applicant can view their updated EPF balance details.
  6. In case of a mismatch, the app will display an error.


Through Umang app:

  1. The applicant can also check their PF balance by downloading the “Umang” app from the Google Play Store for android mobile users OR Apple Store for iPhone users.
  2. Upon installation, go to the search menu and look for EPFO or, find the EPFO option from the app’s homepage under the head “Employee Centric Services”.
  3. In the following page click on “View Passbook” option.
  4. Now enter the UAN and one-time password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number to access PF account details.

Validity

As per the existing provisions under the Indian Provident Fund (PF) law, an EPF account becomes ‘inoperative account’ and does not earn further interest, once an employee retires from service after attaining the age of 55 years, migrates abroad permanently or dies and does not apply for withdrawal of his accumulated balance within 36 months.
