- Tax Compliance Certificate is a document issued by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to taxpayers who have complied and filed their tax returns for a specific period and paid all Compliances provided by Law.
- Application for Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) can be made at any Huduma Centre countywide or made on KRA itax platform
Apply Online:
Step 1: log into the KRA itax platform.
- Using any browser visit the KRA itax platform and enter your KRA PIN Number/USER ID, then click on the “Continue” button to proceed to the next step.
- Where the registered taxpayer has forgotten their KRA PIN Number/USER ID, one can retrieve this information by sending a colored scanned copy of their original ID to callcentre@kra.go.ke or visit the nearest KRA Office or Huduma Center (KRA desk) with their original ID.
Step 2: Enter KRA iTax Password and Solve Arithmetic Question (Security Stamp)
- User should then enter their KRA iTax Password and also solve the arithmetic question (security stamp) and then click on the “Log In” button.
- In case the user has forgotten the KRA iTax Password, click on the “Forgot Password/Unlock Account” hyperlink at the bottom of the login button.
- On the next window, solve the arithmetic question then click on the “Submit” tab.
- A notification of successfully submitting the request will be displayed on the screen and a KRA reset password will be mailed to the user’s registered email address.
- Enter your KRA PIN Number and the temporary reset Password that was sent to your email address.
- Then enter the old password (the reset password sent to your email), new password and also confirm the new password (one that you will be using to access your iTax account), security question and finally the security answer. Check boxes i.e: “I Agree to the KRA Website Policy and Disclaimer” and “I have read the KRA Website Secure Password Policy Guideline.” Then click on the “Submit” button.
Step 3: Apply for Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC)
- Once logged in to your itax account, click on the “Certificates” tab located on the main dashboard, then click on the “Apply for Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC)” from the extended menu.
- A pop-up window will be displayed, read the instruction then click on “OK” to continue, then proceed to fill in the Reason for Application, then click on the “Submit” button, to submit the application request to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- TCC Application will be Auto Approved by the iTax System and the certificate will be issued immediately.
Step 4: Download the Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC)
- To download the certificate, click on the “Click Here to Download Tax Compliance Certificate” option that shall be displayed on your itax account.
- No fees are charged for this service.
- The KRA Tax Compliance Certificate is valid for a period of 12 months from the date it has been issued to a taxpayer.
Apply In-Person:
- Visit any Huduma Centre - KRA Desk, collected countrywide Huduma centre Contacts & Location.
- Here applicant will be required to provide the officer with the relevant supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” section below.
- The KRA officer will then proceed to apply, download and print the Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) and issue it to the applicant instantly.
- No fee is charged for this service.
- The KRA Tax Compliance Certificate is valid for a period of 12 months from the date it has been issued to a taxpayer.

Taxpayers Entitled To Get Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC)
- New Taxpayers i.e those who have just gotten their new KRA PINs.
- Compliant Taxpayers i.e those who have filed relevant tax returns and paid taxes due as provided by Law.
Taxpayers Not Entitled To Get Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC)
- Taxpayers with Pending Returns i.e those who have not filed their KRA Returns for a certain year(s) on iTax.
- Taxpayers with Pending Payments i.e those who have not paid tax liabilities or penalties on iTax.
Fees
- No fees are associated with this service.
Validity
- The KRA Tax Compliance Certificate is valid for a period of 12 months from the date it has been issued to a taxpayer.
