Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Alien Card (Foreign Nationals Certificate), the applicant has to approach the Department of Immigration Services link
- To download the application form, the applicant has to use the following link link
- The applicant has to click the “Apply Now” button.
- Click the “Login using e-citizen service” to login process.
- If the applicant is a new user, the applicant has to click the “Sign Up” option.
- Enter the validate details and click the “Validate” button.
- Complete the registration process and click the “Submit” button.
- Now the applicant has to log in with the username and password and click the “Sign In” button.
- The applicant has to select the application form and print from the link.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant will be required to provide the applicant’s fingerprints to the designated officer for verification purposes.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The applicant might be required to provide biometric data, including fingerprints and a photograph, as part of the application process.
- Depending on the type of application, the applicant might need to attend an interview at the Department of Immigration. This is to verify the information provided in his/her application.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- Once the application is approved, the applicant will receive his/her Alien Card. This card serves as official documentation of his/her legal residency in Kenya.
- This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 wees or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

- Proof of financial means to sustain the applicant himself/herself in Kenya
- Police clearance certificate from the applicant’s home country (in some cases)

Eligibility
To apply for an Alien Card, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must be a foreign national.
- The applicant must be residing in Kenya for a period exceeding 90 days.
- The applicant must have a valid passport or other travel document.
- The applicant must have a valid visa or residence permit.
Fees

Validity
- The Alien Card is valid for 1 year. The applicant must renew his/her card every year.
