Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permits apply only to spouses, partners or dependants legally resident in Ireland.
Criteria:
Spouses, partners and dependants of people who once held Critical Skills, Green Card or researcher permits but who have now got permission to work in Ireland without a permit, may also be eligible for a Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit.
Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permits are not issued to spouses, partners and dependants of holders of General Employment Permits (formerly work permits) or other types of employment permit. They must apply for an employment permit in their own right.

Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permits are only issued to dependent unmarried children aged under 18, who are resident in Ireland as family members of the employment permit holder. In some cases Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permits may be available to dependants aged over 18, who became legally resident in Ireland before the age of 18.
Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit: No fee
The Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit is normally issued for the period up to the expiry date of the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) registration card of the employment permit holder.
The permit can be renewed.

Employment Permits are issued by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
Who may apply for the permit: Either the employer or the employee can apply for a permit which must be based on an offer of employment.
When the permit is issued to the employee it includes a statement of the employee's rights and entitlements. An employee working on an employment permit is protected by employment legislation in exactly the same way as other employees.
A copy of the employment permit is sent to the employer. The employer is prohibited from deducting recruitment expenses from the employee's pay or retaining the employee's personal documents
A list which displays the kind of information which is required to complete the procedure. e.g. 1. Date of Birth. 2. City or County of Birth.
In general, non-EEA nationals need to secure an employment permit to be able to work in Ireland. EEA and Swiss nationals do not need an employment permit.
Under the Employment Permits Acts 20032014 there are 9 types of employment permit one of which is Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit.
The Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit applies to spouses, recognised partners, civil partners and dependants of holders of Critical Skills Employment Permits, former Green Card permits and researchers.
