• You must immediately report the loss of your passport to the nearest police station. You will need to submit the police report when you apply for a new one.
• If you are outside Iceland: You also need to report the loss of your passport to the issuing authority. If you need to travel abroad you may go to an Icelandic Embassy and obtain a temporary travel document. A link is provided under "Office Locations & Contacts" which you can click to view a list of Icelandic Embassies worldwide.

Note: If you find your passport after it has been reported lost or stolen it can no longer be used.
