For New Applications :

1. To apply for Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office
2. Application in HP Form 45 is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : Form
3. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
4. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
5. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
6. Important verification’s for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built, seating arrangements etc... will be carried by authorities.
7. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.

For Renewal :

1. Applicants who wishes to renew their permits may do so in plain paper.
2. Applicant should approach the Deputy Commissioner/ Chairman (State Transport Authority).Submit your request along with all the required documents to the commissioner and pay the appropriate fee.

Apply Online:

1. To apply for tourist vehicle permit (Jeep/Omni/Car), the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.

For New Applications :

2. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
3. Fitness Certificate.
4. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
5. Insurance Certificate.
6. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
7. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
8. Passport size photo-2
9. Pollution under control certificate
10. Aadhaar Card

For Renewal :

1. Registration Certificate with valid fitness issued by the competent authority in original form.
2. Insurance in original form.
3. Original Tourist Vehicle permit

A tourist vehicle permit shall be valid for...

1. 9 years in the case of a motor cab (passenger not exceeding 6 excluding driver)
2. 8 years for vehicles other than a motor cab
3. In case of a vehicle covered by a tourist permit is proposed to be replaced by another vehicle, the new vehicle age should not be more than two years
4. The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit

Note : The period [9 years or 8 years] shall be computed from the date of initial registration of the motor vehicle.

1. As per Central Motor Vehicle Rules of 1989, Tourist Vehicle Permit is granted to owners whose vehicles are used for tourism purposes.
2. Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) is needed for a tourist vehicle operator for the vehicle to carry passengers on a rental basis from one place to another
3. These motor vehicles are constructed or adapted to carry allowed number of passengers as per permit, but not more than the allowed number of passengers, excluding the driver for hire purpose
   
   

1. An operator with Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) should not allow more than allowed number of passengers in his vehicle
   
2. Proper payment of fees is required to travel in other states other than the permitted state
   
3. FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
