Visit the offices of the Parish of your municipality with the required documents and present them requesting that a search be done to prove that you are not in any marriage currently. The registrar will check the records for any registration of any marriage.
If the results indicate that you are not currently in any marriage you will be issued with a Certificate of Marital Status (Single Status Certificate)
It should be a documentation of present place of residence and Certificate of marital status from all the places you have lived in since you were old enough to get married. The documents must not be more than four months old. If you are not a citizen of the country in which you are a resident at present, the same documents from your native country must be produced.
The certificate of marital status must state: Name Address (for at least the last year) Date of birth Place of birth Citizenship Marital status
The certificate must be translated into Danish, German or English if in another language.
Please also be aware that a standard Single Status Certificate or Certificate of No Impediment may be insufficient on its own to allow a marriage to take place in a foreign country. You may be required by the foreign authorities to comply with the following, so please ensure that you allow sufficient time for processing.
Certificate of Marital Status: from the place you were born as well as from your present place of residence (if different). NB! Certificate of marital status can also be required from other places if necessary. The certificate must be no older than 4 months and must be translated if not issued in Danish, English or German. The certificate must include the following: Name, date of birth, place of birth, current address, citizenship and marital status.

Overseas marriage authorities often require further evidence that the party is free to marry. Such evidence may be a statement from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages that there is no record of the person having been previously married or a 'Single Status Certificate' or 'No Records Result'.

Proof of Current Residence and Marital Status
The documentation must state your name, address for at least the past year, date of birth and current marital status.
If you have lived in different countries after the age of 18, it may be necessary to obtain a marital status certificate from each country. The documents must not be more than four months old.
If you are planning to marry in another country, you may be required to obtain a Certificate of Non-Impediment. This document has many different names such as Declaration of Non-Impediment to Marry, Statutory Declaration of Single Status, Affidavit of Intended Marriage, Statement In-Lieu of Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage Abroad, Certificate de Coutume, a Certificate of No Impediment, Certificate of Nulla Osta, Certificate of Freedom to Marry or just free to marry.
