Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Hides and Skins Buyer's License (permit) in person, the applicant has to contact/visit the Ghana Veterinary Service offices to make the application.

3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
4. Applicant should read carefully in the application form, after all the details must be filled in the application form.
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. Please make sure that the applicant has the pay the fees that are listed down the “fees” section of this page.
7. This application will be processed and the information will be verified by the MOFA.
8. Once the application is verified, a Hides and Skin buyer’s Licence shall be granted to the applicant.
9. The licensing authority may refuse to grant a Hides and skin buyer’s Licence without assigning any reason for the refusal, and may revoke any Licence granted, if it is satisfied that any of the terms and conditions upon which the Licence was granted has been contravened.
10. The processing time for this procedure is 2 to 3 days.

• Any person carrying out Hide and Skin business in Ghana jurisdiction except those who are exempted under Hides and Skin trade Act Cap 89 are eligible to obtain hides and Skin buyer’s License.

• License fees GHS. 50,000.

• A license expires on the 31st December each year and it is renewable only on condition that one complies with the hides and skins Trade Act Cap 89.

A license may then be granted under the following conditions:

• Availability of water
• Availability of a drainage system
• A shed/shelter where the hides/skins will be preserved and kept and
• A quarantine area (only for an exporters license)
• No person shall export any hide or skin unless he or she is in possession of a valid exporters-buyers license in the prescribed form issued to him or her by the licensing officer.
• An exporters-buyers license shall not be transferable by the licensee to any other person.

• Purpose of this permit is to regulate the hides and skins export.
