Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for National Identification Number Registration of Alien Persons (Foreigner) in person, the applicant must visit the Ghana National Identification Authority. link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. Read carefully through the application form as there contain different section.
4. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the respective office.
7. This application will be processed and the information will be verified by the NIA.
8. The registrar will then verify and process his/her application, if all the information are in order and then enter the applicant into the register book and issue the applicant with a unique identification number, the applicant will be asked when to came and collect the his/her alien identity card.
9. The Processing time for this procedure is 1 month.

• All alien person living in Ghana of 18 years and above.

• Initial registration is GHS. 2,000
• Subsequent renewal is GHS. 1,000 per year or part thereof
• Duplicate or lost foreign national certificate is GHS. 2,000
• Correction of civil status is Free.

• A Foreign National's Registration Certificate an Alien card is valid for a period not exceeding two (2) years.
• In case of a permanent residence permit holder, the Certificate/Alien Card is valid for a period not exceeds three (3) years.
