Apply via Agent
Apply In-Person:
- Applicant can apply for East Africa Community (EAC) Passport by applying to the Comptroller-General of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) office.

- The Applicant has to approach the Ghana Immigration Service centre and the applicant can get their application form.
- Fill out the application form and other relevant documents.
- The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the GIS regional and district office or the head office.
- This application will be processed and information will be verified by the authority.
- If the verification is successful, the notification will be sent to the applicant.
- The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the respective office and the applicant gets the certificate.
- Maximum Processing Time for this procedure is 2 to 3 weeks

- Attach a copy of the National ID of the Recommender.
- Attach a copy of National ID or National Identification Number of the applicant.
- Attach copies of academic documents for proof of profession (where applicable).
- Attach proof of payment of prescribed fees.
- Attach a copy of birth certificate, adoption order, and consent letter from parents/guardians in case of minors.

Eligibility
- An East African Passport may be issued to a citizen of the Ghana who intends to travel within the East African Community member States.
Fees
The passport costs US$10 or the equivalent in EAC currencies. The fees for the International East African e-Passport shall be as follows:
- Ordinary passport (48 Pages) – GHS 250,000
- Service Passport (64 Pages) - GHS 400,000
- Diplomatic Passport (64 Pages) - GHS 500,000
- Express Processing Service - GHS 150,000
- Courier Service for Applicants Abroad - GHS I0,000
- Certification of Passport - GHS 30,000
- Fine for Replacement of lost or damaged Passport - GHS I00,000
Validity
- It is valid for a period not exceeding five years from the date of issue, but may be renewed for a further period of five years, provided that the total period shall not exceed ten years in aggregate.
- It has six months multiple entry validity.
