All requests for certification requires submission of a complete application. Submit application:

• Online: through your MyPSC account
• Paper application: To download a form, see 'Documents to Use' section. Other forms and documents are required based on the type of transaction requested.

How to Submit Application Materials

The application package is considered complete when all required, completed documents and fees have been received. It is your responsibility to submit a complete package. Incomplete application packages received by the Certification Division are usually held for 90 days pending receipt of additional documentation; at the end of the 90 day hold, incomplete certification cases are closed. To reopen an incomplete certification case, you must submit a new application along with the missing documents.

Once the Certification Division has received your complete application they will evaluate it. If you are eligible for a Georgia certificate, it will be issued electronically through your MyPSC account. If further information is needed or you have outstanding requirements, correspondence will be issued electronically through the same account. In either case, you will receive an email alerting you to the presence of a new document in your account. Complete applications are processed in the order they are received. After you submit your application package, you may check the status of your application by accessing the GaPSC's Homepage.

If you are submitting an application for the first time, your application package must include the following documents:

• Initial Certification Application (may also be completed through your MyPSC account);
• Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended;
• Verification of Lawful Presence affidavit and a copy of an acceptable ID.

Provide eligibility criteria's for going through this procedure.

A $20 processing fee is required in some certification transactions. Note: Even if you are requesting multiple transactions, the maximum fee required for one application is $20 unless you are requesting a notarized certificate copy, which requires a separate $20 fee.

If you are not employed by a Georgia LUA you must pay a $20 fee for all transactions EXCEPT FOR:

• Issuance of a Pre-Service certificate
• Issuance of an initial certificate based on completion of a Georgia educator preparation program
• Name change

If you are employed by a Georgia LUA you must pay a $20 fee for the following transactions ONLY:

• Issuance of a Non-Renewable Professional certificate
• Issuance of a Supplemental Induction certificate
• Issuance of a Waiver certificate
• Notarized certificate copy

Please note: If you are requesting a notarized certificate copy in addition to another transaction requiring a fee, you must pay a total of $40.

A fee may be paid with a credit or debit card through your MyPSC account.

If you pay a fee when it is not required, a refund check will be mailed to the address you provided on your application. This process may take up to 8 weeks.

Initial Certification Application

• To be used only by applicants who have never held educator certification in Georgia.
• The form may also be completed electronically through the Applications tab of your MyPSC account.
