1. To Renew Residence Identity (ID), applicant has to approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs location link or the applicant can approach Ethiopian Immigration Nationality and Vital Event Agency location link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the respective officer.
3. Applicant has to fill in all necessary details in the application form.
4. Make sure the applicant has all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required document along with the application form.
6. Submit the application form along with the documents to the concerned officer.
7. After successful submission the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
8. After verification process, authority will issue the renewed Residence Identity (ID) to the applicant in stipulated period of time.

1. To Renew Residence Identity (ID) through online, the applicant has to approach Ethiopian Immigration Nationality and Vital Event Agency or tap the following online link
2. The applicant has to Select the resident ID type as “Residence ID Renewal”.
3. After selecting the resident id type, the applicant has to select their citizenship.
4. Then the applicant has to enter their personal details and submit the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Review the application and submit the application using appropriate button.
6. After verification process, authority will notify, the status of application or check the application status using the following link: link
7. Thereafter applicant shall Obtain renewed Residence identity (ID) in stipulated period of time.

• Temporary Residence Id Copy

For work residence ID:

• Renewed Work Permit or support letter from ministry of labour office

For family member residence ID:

• Renewed work permit of the inviter
• Authenticated Marriage from ministry of foreign affairs
• Authenticated Birth certificate from ministry of foreign affairs

For student residence ID:

• ID card of the university
• Support letter from university

• Date of birth.
• Passport details number.
• Passport expiry date.

• Health information such as your medical history and vaccinations, among others

• Residence ID renewal is the process of renewing an ID when it gets expired.
• To apply for a residence ID renewal to work or education related purposes, the company and liaison officer for the applicant should be registered and approved.

• All governmental organizations, local companies, foreign companies, international organizations, NGOs and religious organizations intending to outsource foreigners or invite foreigners who need temporary residence ID are required to be registered online and approved by Ethiopian immigration nationality and vital events agency and have company reference code to apply for Temporary residence ID.
