Procedure
Apply via Agent
- To replace a lost/stolen or damaged Eritrean Identity card, applicants will need to go to the nearest Eritrean embassy or consulate in the country where they are currently staying.
- Complete an application form.
- Submit the completed form together with all required documents.
- Depending on the consular services office where you are applying, you may also need to submit a self addressed prepaid return envelope.
Required Documents
Applicants who have their old ID in possession:
- Clear copy of current Eritrean ID
- Clear copy of current passport
- Completed application form
- Four Passport photos (35 x 45 mm):
- Photo dimensions: 35 x 45mm
- Neutral expression, mouth closed
- Good lighting, no shadows behind head or on face
- Eyes looking directly at camera
- Coloured photo on white background
- High resolution, good quality paper
- Only prescription glasses allowed
- Only religious hats/scarves allowed
- Proof of payment of the application fee
- Depending on the consular services office where you are applying, you may also need to submit a self addressed prepaid return envelope
For lost or stolen IDs:
- Clear copy of previous Eritrean ID/ number of previous ID (if available)
- Clear copy of current passport
- Completed application form
- Four Passport photos (35 x 45 mm):
- Photo dimensions: 35 x 45mm
- Neutral expression, mouth closed
- Good lighting, no shadows behind head or on face
- Eyes looking directly at camera
- Coloured photo on white background
- High resolution, good quality paper
- Only prescription glasses allowed
- Only religious hats/scarves allowed
- Evidence of up-to-date recovery tax payment clearance
- Proof of payment of the application fee
- Depending on the consular services office where you are applying, you may also need to submit a self addressed prepaid return envelope
