Chandigarh - Apply for CessPool (Septic Tank, Sewerage) Cleaning Service

Apply In-Person:
Through Chandigarh Municipal Corporation

  1. To apply for septic tank or sewerage system cleaning service, applicant has to visit the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.
  2. Applicant has to approach the Junior Engineer of Public Health department regulated under the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

  4. Obtain the relevant application form from the officer and fill the form with appropriate details.
  5. While submitting the application form, make the partial payment for the service you have requested.
  6. Respective officer will verify the details submitted and allocate the specific contractor and the schedule for cleaning the sewerage system or septic tank.

Through Private septic tank cleaning services

  1. Applicant can approach the nearest septic tank cleaning services of their area.
  2. Applicant has to provide all the necessary details to the private service provider.
  3. Service provider will check for the availability of service to the applicant’s area.
  4. Once there is availability, service provider will ask the applicant to pay the partial amount for the service.
  5. After the payment, applicant will be informed about the schedule.
  6. Once all the cleaning process gets completed, applicant has to pay the remaining amount to the service provider.

  1. To avail the sewerage system cleaning service through online, visit the following link Municipal Administration Online Services
  2. Enter all the mandatory details and click “Next” tab.
  3. Now enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and click “Next” tab.
  4. Select the department as “Water supply and sewerage”, complaint category as “Sewerage” and sub-category as applicable.
  5. After entering all the mandatory details, click on “Submit” tab.
  6. Now your request will be submitted to the authorities.
  7. Authorities will verify the details and allocate the specific contractor for the cleaning service.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  4. The operator will process the application online.
  5. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  6. An inspection will be held to check the premises.
  7. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  8. If verified, the permit will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

  • According to Manual Scavengers Act and their Rehabilitation Act 2013, any person who engages scavenging workers, either directly or indirectly, would be punishable with imprisonment upto two years or fine or both.
  • Under the Act, protective equipment such as gumboots, gloves, masks, soap and a disinfectant like Dettol has to be given every month to the workers.
  • If the workers, do not have these equipment, do not let them engage, call the contractor.
