Apply In-Person

1. You should contact the Ministry of Transport and Communications or permit-issuing offices at any of the Department of Road Transport and Safety offices near you for more information on how to file the application.
2. Accurately fill in the application form, which can be obtained from the above offices or click the link below to download : link
3. Submit the completed form along with the required supporting documentation (as listed below)to the Transport Controller at any of the permit-issuing offices for verification and processing.
4. If the licencing issuing office is satisfied that you have complied with the all conditions as set for the application of the permit, he or she will then issue you with Permit immediately upon payment of the required fee.

• Copy of vehicle registration document (blue book).
• Copy of valid vehicle's Road worthiness Certificate.
• Copy of valid vehicle permit.

These permits cost BWP100.00.

• All foreign-registered vehicles attempting to enter any country, not their home country, are subject to fees.
• However, in an attempt to promote trade within the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) member countries, residents of these countries are exempt from being charged by countries foreign to them, provided that they have SACU permits.

The permit is issued to any foreign-registered vehicles that require to enter in Botswana and it’s a member of Southern African Customs Union (SACU) member countries.
