Bahamas - Obtain Poultry Import Permit (License)


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. To Obtain License for Import of Poultry, the applicant must submit completed form with the prescribed fee and supporting documents to the Department of Agriculture.
  2. The applicant can download the form from the below link:Form Link.
  3. Complete the application form with full details of Items to be imported and submit the same in triplicate to Department of Agriculture.
  4. Application is reviewed for compliance and signed by competent authority.
  5. Applicant shall pay the corresponding fees.
  6. After approval, the applicant will be issued with the permit.
  7. Applicant submits approved sanitary certificate from the exporting country along with approved Import License to an Agricultural Inspector or Customs Officer at the Port of Entry.

Process for Family Island applicants (except Grand Bahama and Abaco)

  1. A request should be submitted by the Applicant to the Administrator through Administrator email and/or fax application to Department of Agriculture ::*New Providence for processing.
  2. Application is reviewed for compliance and signed by competent authority.
  3. Approved Permit is then emailed and/or faxed back to Administrator’s office.
  4. Applicant pays the relevant fees and receives the approved permit.
  5. Applicant submits approved sanitary certificate, from the exporting country, along with approved Import License to an Agricultural Inspector or Customs Officer at the Port of Entry.




Required Documents

  • For Commercial Traders, nature of business must be specified and a valid Business License is required.
  • Sanitary Certificate from country of export.

  • The processing fees for this service is USD/BSD $2.00 + VAT.
  • Personal cheques are not accepted.



Validity

Permits are valid for fourteen days. Expiry dates are specified on each Permit.
