Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for Wildlife Transport Permit (License) in is West Bengal available in the Forest Department or Transport Department contact link
2. Applicants can visit the transport department or Forest department and applicant can get their application form for wildlife transport permit /license.
3. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
4. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.( Both photocopies and originals)
5. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting it at the office.
6. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
7. If all above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the transport permit license will be provided within 30 days.
8. If there is no information provided regarding license by concerned authorities, applicant can visit the office to know status of their application.
9. If an application is rejected, the license fee shall be non-refunded.
10. The Processing time for this procedure takes 4-6 weeks.

• Driving license (proof)
• Insurance certificate.
• Residential address(proof)
• Medical certificate or fitness certificate of the vehicle.
• Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.

• Citizenship declaration(refer below for documents)
• Learner’s license (original)
• Passport size photographs.
• Valid vehicle documents.
• Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
• A copy of owners import/export/transport permit must accompany this application as proof of legal origin for all wild animals contained in this application

• Transaction of lawful business with person(s) residing in the sanctuary.
• Applicant must be an Indian.

• Wildlife transport License fees is 1000 rupees.

• The wildlife protection Act protects all kinds of animal from amphibians to birds, mammals, and reptiles under section (21).

Required Information

• Details of the person applying for permit
• Details of owner and property where wild animal(s) are kept in permanent captivity
• Owner’s proof of legal origin for wild animals contained in this application
• Details of landowner and property where wild animal will be showed/ exhibited
• Details of person responsible for conducting show
• Detail of person and vehicle responsible for transport of wild animals to shows
• Details of temporary enclosure(s) for wild animals contained in this application
• List of species and details of wild animals which you are applying for
• Signature of the applicant
• Purpose of transport (For Education, Scientific research, Collection of specimens, etc.).
• Full name ,sure name of owner of animals
• Full name ,sure name of transporter

Need for the Document

• A wildlife transportation permit shall be obtained for all shipments of wildlife (native or exotic) prior to:
• Receiving a shipment of wildlife;
• Importing wildlife into India; or.
• Transporting wildlife into and through the state to a destination outside of India.

• There are two types of wildlife transportation permits:
• An individual wildlife transportation permit shall be valid for one shipment of wildlife.
• An annual wildlife transportation permit shall be valid for multiple wildlife shipments.
• All shipments of wildlife, excepting reptiles and amphibians, shall be accompanied by a certificate of veterinary inspection.
