Procedure

To provide financial support to the poor widows of India, the widow pension scheme was introduced in India. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of pension scheme.
Apply In-Person :

1. To apply for widow Pension scheme,visit the Department of Women & Child& Social Welfare.

3. Get the application form from the Concerned Officer or write it on an A4 sheet.

   Note :Application Form(Form-P) for Pension may be obtained free of cost from following offices namely:

   • Office of the Block Development Officer or the Executive Officer of the concerned Panchayat Samity in case of the applicant resides in the rural areas under the said Panchayat Samity
   • Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer in case of the applicant resides in Municipal / Notified areas outside the areas of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, and
   • Office of the Controller of Vagrancy, West Bengal situated at PurtaBhawan, Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata-700091, in case of the applicant resides within the areas under Kolkata Municipal Corporation
4. Fill the application form with all the necessary details.
5. Attach all the Required Documents as mentioned in the Required Documents section along with the form and submit it to the concerned officer in the Department Of Panchayats & Rural Development.
6. Pay the appropriate fees as per authorities quote.
7. You will be given an acknowledgement keep it safe for future reference.
8. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
9. If sanctioned, beneficiary shall be issued a Pension Passbook.

1. To apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme,visit the Department Of Panchayats & Rural Development.

4. Fill the application form with all the necessary details.
5. Attach all the Required Documents as mentioned in the Required Documents section along with the form and submit it to the concerned officer in the Department Of Panchayats & Rural Development.

Documents Required for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

• Death Certificate of Husband
• BPL Status Certificate (verifiable through Ration card)
• Aadhaar Card
•  Any of the following documents, namely:
  • Voters’ ID Card issued by Election Commission of India
  • Ration Card
  • Bank Passbook with Photo (Kisan Photo Passbook also valid)
  • PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • MGNREGA Card

Eligibility

Eligibility to apply for West Bengal Widow Pension Scheme :
The widow girl/woman satisfies the following conditions to apply for this scheme: -

• The widow should be a citizen of India and resident of the state namely West Bengal.
• Her family income, if any, does not exceed Rs. 1000/-Per Month.
• She is not being maintained by anyone of her relations.
• She has been a resident of the state namely West Bengal for not less than ten years on the date of making application for Widow Pension.

Note 1.- Professional beggars and mendicants shall not be eligible for pension under this scheme. But persons who are not actually beggars by profession but receive occasional assistance from someone shall be entitled to pension, if otherwise eligible.
Note 2.- The application who is a recipient of “Disability Pension”, “Old Age Pension”, “Farmers’ Pension” or pension under “Family Pension Scheme” of the State Government or of the Central Government or of other concerns, shall not be entitled to Widow Pension.

Eligibility to apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

• The applicant must be from BPL category (with a valid BPL id)
• The applicant must be a widow.
• The applicant must be between 40-64 years of age.

Fees

• As authorities quote.

Validity

• It is valid forever.
