United Arab Emirates - Apply for a Motorcycle Driving License

Procedure

  1. To apply for a motorcycle driving license in United Arab Emirates, you may submit your application at the driving institutes or licensing office in your area. Application must be submitted in person.
  2. The driving institute will open a traffic file. You will be asked to undergo an eye test at one of the authorised optical shops.
  3. The customer must have the results of the eye test according to the requested category:
    1. For drivers of light vehicles and motorcycles:
      One eye 6/18 -- Second eye 6/18
      One eye 6/12 -- Second eye 6/24
      One eye 6/9 -- Second eye 6/36 or 6/60
      One eye 6/6 -- Second eye blind
    2. For colourblind customers: The customer can apply for the license on the condition that he passes the eye test
  4. You will receive a permit to start the driving lessons.
  5. After passing the practical driving test, you may request for the issuance of your license online. Access the Ministry of Interior's website, to register click the link.
  6. After registering, login to the website and simply complete the E- Form - link.
  7. Pay the fees electronically.
  8. After paying, get the reference barcode.
  9. Attach the required documents: Identity card, a slip indicating a successful pass of the test, and a certificate of successful completion of the theoretical training
  10. Once your transaction is finalized, a text message will be sent to you.
  11. The license may be handed over to you by hand or by mail or Empost. Get in touch with your local Traffic and Licensing Office (see contact information below) in case you have any question.

Required Documents

For beginners (those who do not have prior experience or any bike driving license):

  • Two copies of passport, valid Dubai residence visa
  • Original and copy of Emirates ID card
  • Two passport size photographs
  • Receipt of the eye test (and this eye test can be done from EDI or any other registered optical countries too)
  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) issued by the sponsor.
In case the sponsor is your father or your husband, then you will also need the passport copy of your sponsor.


For beginners who are Locals/Emiratis:

  • Two copies of passport, valid Dubai residence visa
  • Original and copy of Emirates ID card
  • Two passport size photographs
  • Receipt of the eye test (and this eye test can be done from EDI or any other registered optical countries too)
  • Original and copy of GCC license


For the people who are valid GC license holders:

  • Two copies of passport, valid Dubai residence visa
  • Original and copy of Emirates ID card
  • Two passport size photographs
  • Receipt of the eye test (and this eye test can be done from EDI or any other registered optical countries too)
  • Original and copy of GCC license


For the people who have got the other Emirati visa which is other than Dubai (company sponsored)

  • Two copies of passport, with the visa page also.
  • Original ID and copy (front and back side) of Emirate
  • Two passport size photographs
  • Receipt of the eye test (the eye test can be done at EDI or any other such registered optical centers for the eye test).
  • No Objection Certificate is also required (NOC) which is issued by the Traffic Department of other emirates which also states that you have not opened any of the Traffic files in that Emirate city.
  • No Objection Letter from the sponsor is also required (this state that you are working in Dubai) for opening the file in Dubai)
  • Even the Trade license copy of your employer/company in Dubai along with the same branch name in other Emirate city also.

Note: If you opt to register online, original Emirates ID card is essential for opening of the file.
