Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To Register with Medical Council, the applicant has to approach the Uganda Medical Association link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. Then the application will be processed further.
10. The officer will review the application and may request additional information or clarification if necessary.
11. The Medical Council may require you to attend an interview to assess your knowledge and competence. This interview aims to ensure that you meet the required standards for medical practice in Uganda.
12. Upon completion successfully, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
13. The applicant has to visit the office and collect the permit.
14. This entire process can be completed within 3 – 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• Certified copies of your medical degree and transcript.
• Evidence of completing the internship, including a certificate or letter of completion.
• Valid identification documents (such as a passport or national identification card).
• Certificate of Good Standing from the medical regulatory authority in the country where you obtained your medical qualification (if applicable).
• Proof of English language proficiency (if your medical degree was not taught in English).

Eligibility

To be eligible to register with the UMDPC, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be a holder of a medical or dental qualification recognized by the UMDPC.
• You must have completed an internship program approved by the UMDPC.
• You must be of good moral character and be free from any legal or disciplinary proceedings.

Fees

• The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.
