A toll-free number is one that starts with a toll-free area code i.e. Uganda toll free number is 0800, when someone dials one of these numbers, they aren't charged for the call. Whoever owns the toll-free phone number pays instead.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. In Uganda there are different toll free number provider where upon filling the requirements you will receive your toll free number
  2. Visit any branch service provider of Telecommunication companies in Uganda e.g. telecom Uganda (UTL), MTN Uganda, Airtel Uganda, orange Uganda and others, with all the required documents and recommended application fees
  3. Approach the service desk and request for the application form , read through the instruction carefully and fill it accurately
  4. Pay the application fees and submit the fill form with the required documents to the attending officer, who will verify the information and process them
  5. If all the information are in order who will be issued your toll free number immediately

They are commonly used and suitable for use by Utility Service Provider Companies, Government Parastatals (Organizations or Bodies), Non-Governmental Organizations, Voluntary Organizations, Business and Marketing Services, Security Services, Emergency Services Providers and many others for purposes of easing their communication gaps between the community or clients

Uganda Telecom: Set up fee which is UG SHS 100,000/-,Initial deposit UG SHS 500,000/- or $198 
MTN Uganda:A deposit of UGX 500,000 is required.

Toll free numbers are simply known as those special phone numbers in which clients or customers can call on them totally free and which, the client simply dials that particular number in order to make a call and is not charged nor does pay any cent regardless of the service provider is calling from.
