Apply In-Person

  1. To obtain a Cabin Member Crew Certificate, one has to complete and submit the prescribed Application form issued .
  2. This form can be obtained by visiting the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority office by downloading it from their Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Website.
  3. After filling the application documents you are required to submit them to the UCAA offices or you can forwarded them to the:-
    Director General,
    Uganda Civil Aviation Authority,
    P. O. Box 5536,
    Kampala, Uganda,
  4. After filling the Cabin Member Crew Certificate application form you are required to submit them together with all the required documents. These documents include:-
    (i). The current Medical Certificate Class 2.
    (ii). Knowledge and practical tests results’ slip. The knowledge test results for a cabin crew member certificate shall be valid for twelve months after passing the examination.
    (iii). 2 Passport size photos whose size should be 2cm b 2.5cm.
    (iv). A copy of a photo ID or Passport.
    (v). A certificate issued by an Authorised Training Organisation indicating satisfactory completion of the training.
  5. You are also to proceed to pay the prescribed application fees and submit the payment receipt together with the application documents. An application fee of UgSh.2,000 is charged for the certificate.
  6. A processing time of 7 days is needed to complete the processing of the Cabin Member Crew Certificate, after which you will be contacted through a phone call to collect your new license at the UCAA offices.
  7. You will be required to carry your identification documents when collecting your certificate.

EligibilityEdit

  • Be at least eighteen years of age;
  • Be able to read, speak and understand the English language sufficiently to adequately carry out the responsibilities of a cabin crew member;
  • Have completed a course of training approved by the Authority proven by a letter from UCAA confirming the approval.
  • Have passed a knowledge test within the last six months preceding the date of application.

InstructionsEdit

  • The applicant should –
  1. Complete the prescribed application form,
  2. Submit the completed form with all the required documents.
  3. Pay the applicable fees and submit the payment receipt.
  4. Wait for the processing period to elapse then collect your new cabin crew member certificate.

Note:

  1. A person shall not act as a cabin crewmember unless that person holds—
    a).a cabin crewmember certificate;
    b).a rating for the specific aircraft type or is operating under the supervision of a rated cabin crew for the purpose of qualifying for the rating;
    c).the required knowledge for the type of aircraft and operating position;
    d).the current Medical Certificate Class 2;
  2. A person undergoing training to qualify for a cabin crewmember certificate or rating shall not—
    a).form a part of the required minimum number of cabin crewmember for that aircraft;
    b).be assigned to an operating position that requires a cabin crewmember.
  3. In the regulation, operating position means a duty station assigned to the cabin crewmember for execution of emergency duties.

  • An applicant for a cabin crewmember certificate shall have demonstrated a level of knowledge appropriate to the privileges granted to the holder of a cabin crewmember certificate, in the following subjects—
  • a.fire and smoke training to include—
i.emphasis on the responsibility of cabin crew to deal promptly with emergencies involving fire and smoke and, in particular, emphasis on the importance of identifying the actual source of the fire;
ii.the importance of informing the flight crew immediately, as well as the specific actions necessary for co-ordination and assistance, when fire or smoke is discovered;
iii.the necessity for frequent checking of potential fire-risk areas including toilets and the associated smoke detectors;
iv.the classification of fires and the appropriate type of extinguishing agents and procedures for particular fire situations, the techniques of application of extinguishing agents, the consequences of misapplication, and of use in a confined space; and
v.the general procedures of ground based emergency services at aerodromes.
a.water survival training to include the actual donning and use of personal flotation equipment in water by each cabin crewmember; before first operating on an aeroplane fitted with life-rafts or other similar equipment, training must be given on the use of this equipment, as well as actual practice in water;
b.survival training appropriate to the areas of operation such as polar, desert, jungle or sea;
c.medical aspects and first aid to include—
i.instruction on first aid and the use of first-aid kits;
ii.first aid associated with survival training and appropriate hygiene; and
iii.the physiological effects of flying and with particular emphasis on hypoxia;
