Apply In-Person

  1. In order to apply for Ground water Permit, the applicant has to apply in person to the Director Directorate of Water Resources Management.
  2. Submit a filled application form along with the required documents to the Director Directorate of Water Resources Management and the application form (Form B) should be submitted to the Directorate of Water Resource Management or you can forward them to the:-

  3. The Director may require you to advertise the application at your cost in a way specified by the Directorate of water resource management.
  4. You are to submit the application documents with all the required documents.These documents include
    1. For companies or NGOs Company profile indicating Memorandum and Articles of Association, shareholders and management set up registered with Uganda Registration Services Bureau.
    2. A borehole/water well completion report with attachments to include the pumping test data, certificate of water quality analysis, siting report.
    3. Applicant might be required to prepare and submit plans or other information to support the application.
    4. Application form.
    5. Evidence of payment in the bank
    6. Email address.
    7. Establishment of an office and workshop in Uganda.
    8. Evidence of ownership of water equipment.
    9. Evidence of payment to the bank.
    10. Name of applicant.
    11. Tax Identification Number (TIN)
  5. When you have completed to fill the form and the appropriate attachments, you must attach evidence of payment (URA receipt scanned or delivered) for processing the application.
  6. Please provide the names and addresses of two referees who can comment on the character competence and reputation of yourself and your firm.
  7. Please provide the name and address of your firm's bankers as required by the Director.
  8. Submit the payment receipt together with the application documents. An application form is free charge.
  9. The Director shall after receipt of application referred the application to any public authority designated by the Committee for consideration and comments.
  10. The permit may be granted for a period not exceeding five years; (b) the permit shall be granted subject to such conditions as are relevant to the specified particular types of uses determined by the Committee;
  11. A processing time of 90 days is needed to complete the processing of the Ground water permit, after which you will be contacted through a phone call to collect your Ground water permit.
  12. You will be required to carry your identification documents when collecting your Ground water Permit.

Individual/Association/Company/Public Authority, corporate engaged in the business of boring/pumping ground water wells.

  • License Fee:
  1. 450,000 Ugx New permit
  2. 200,000 ¬ 3,000,000 Ugx payable annually depending on the amount of water being abstracted.
  3. Renewal Fee: 50,000 Ugx.

InstructionsEdit

  • A person who becomes the owner or occupier of any premises in respect of which a water permit exists shall continue to abstract water in accordance with the conditions and terms spelt out in that water permit for a period of three months from the date on which that person becomes the owner or occupier of the premises.
  • After the expiry of the period, the Director shall, on receipt of a notification grant that person a water permit on conditions which are not more onerous to the applicant than the conditions attached to the previous water permit.

The Director may,

  • require an applicant to prepare and submit plans or other information to support the application made under the regulation;
  • in person or by a person duly authorized by him enter any land and carry out any investigations that are necessary to enable him process the application;
  • require an applicant for a water permit, at his cost, to advertise the application for a water permit in such manner as the Director may in writing specify.
  • request the applicant referred 10 in sub regulation (1), in any notice advertised under that sub regulation, to invite submissions on that publication within such period as the Director may in writing specify.
