Uganda - Applying for a Diplomatic passport

  1. The interested party or applicant is required to obtain the passport application forms A and B from the Passport office nearest to you for example at the Directorate of Immigration office at the Internal Affairs Ministry in Kampala, or at the Passport office branches located in the different district office across the country, or even at the nearest Ugandan embassy or even consulate,
  2. The above should be followed by the applicant filling in the Passport application forms as required on the forms, take the forms to the required local council offices including the LC1, LC2, LC3, the GISO, the RDC and afterwards forward in person the filled forms to the responsible offices where the forms were collected from.
  3. Upon review and approval of the submitted documents, the responsible office will iussue a Payment BRAF which the applicant will tale to the bank and pay the required amount in addition to the bank charges.
  4. This will be followed by presenting the bank reciepts and upon verificvation of the payment, the applicant will be told when to go back for the Passport picking depending on the number of days given.

Please follow the steps below to make the on-line passport application.

  1. Log into passport portal :Online portal
  2. Accept the terms and conditions displayed in the Disclaimer.
  3. Answer simple security questions
  4. Complete the passport application form
  5. Print Passport Application Payment Advice Form
  6. Make payment for the Diplomatic passport using the selected payment method.
  7. Schedule appointment for a date of your convenience using the schedule appointment link on the home page
    • The applicant will be required to schedule an Appointment online with the Passport Office (Kampala, Mbale, Mbarara, Gulu or Ugandan Missions abroad)
  8. You should then print your filled application and three copies of the invoice to present to the DIRECTORATE of CITIZENSHIP and IMMIGRATION CONTROL department offices.
  9. You must appear in-person for digital photo and biometrics capture in Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control office in Kampala, or at Uganda High commission abroad.
  10. You must present the following documents to the Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control offices:
    • An Online pre-filled passport application form and three invoices.
    • Original birth certificate and photocopy.
    • Original National ID Card and photocopy.
    • Three Current passport size photos.
    • Recommenders ID card copy and sign on it.
    • Any other information that may be relevant to the application.
    • A copy of bank payment receipt.
    • covering letter From the Government addressed to the Passport Control Office
  11. After lodging the application the passport will be ready for collection at the Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control offices after 2 working days if express processing or 10 working days ordinary processing.
  12. You are required to bring proof of identification when collecting the passport. You can also track the application progress through your online account Application ID https://www.passports.go.ug. You will be contacted through text and/or email when to collect your passport.

EligibilityEdit

Diplomats and other government officials like ministers, foreign service officers, chief justice, bank governor, chancellors and vice chancellors of state universities, recognized cultural and traditional leaders, the speaker and deputy speaker of parliament and others, for work related international travel together with others including their families like Spouses are eligible for a diplomatic passport.

Uganda Shillings 120,000.

A passport is for a period not exceeding ten years from the date of issuance

A diplomatic passport is a passport which is issued to someone who must travel internationally on official state business. Diplomatic passports are classically given to diplomats and consuls when they are posted overseas, and they may be issued to other people within the government as well, depending on the circumstances.
