Apply In-Person
- A hand written application should be addressed to the Secretary Prisons Council on the dates mentioned in the advert depending on applicant area of origin.
- Pick the Application form 3 (2008) from public service commission, which should be filled in triplicate and submitted the same to the Secretary,Uganda Prisons Authority,or you can visit the Uganda prison website on the following Link prison services UPS
- Handwritten applications are also acceptable.
- The application forms are obtainable from the Prisons Authority Secretariat or Ministries/Departments and District Service Commission Offices or can be downloaded from the Public Service Commission website: Public Service Commission
- The applications should bear the title as well as the reference Number of the post applied for.
- Applicants should attach the following documents before submission
- Three recent passport size photos,
- Three sets of certified photocopies of their academic transcripts and
- Certificates and National identity card (ID).
- Applicants should apply for a maximum of only two (2) posts clearly indicating the first and second choice against the post applied for.
- Applicants if subsequently shortlisted for oral interviews shall be required to present the following documents :-
- Certified copies and originals of the academic transcripts
- certificates at the time of sitting interviews.
- Your personal details (like full name, date of birth and address)
- Your education history and qualifications
- Your employment history
- Any convictions
- Your financial situation and any business interests
- Any tattoos you have
- Before joining, you will have to complete a medical and fitness test to make sure you've got the strength and endurance needed to be a prisoner’s Warders / Wardresse.
- Next, the applicant should not have been convicted of any criminal offence in any court of law.
- In addition, successful candidates must be prepared to undergo a Twelve (12) months Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Officers’ course at the Prisons Staff College and Training School plus three (03) months attachment.
- Next,you’ll undergo robust background and security checks, involving searches on national and local information databases
- Once you’ve successfully completed all of the stages in the application process, you will now be in a position to report for further Training and the recruitment officers will give you all the details of everything you need to know about your potential training dates and next steps.
- All successful candidates are expected to report at the Prisons Staff College and Training School, for the 12 months Initial Training Course and three Months for attachment before deployment as a prisoner warder or Wardresse.
- After successful training course at Prisons Staff College and Training School, for a full year and three months of attachment, you will now be allowed to Join Uganda Prisons service and you will be issued with all the necessary equipments including a New prisons Uniform.

EligibilityEdit
All Applicants must be: –
- Ugandan Citizens aged 18-30 years.
- In possession of O’level certificates with at least 4 credits including one in English and a pass in Mathematics. (University Graduates and Diploma holders should NOT apply).
- Physically fit.

- All stages of the recruitment process are free of charge. Please do not pay any money to any one for any service during the recruitment exercise

- The validity period is until retirement or dismissal from prison.

- Results Orientation; Ethics and Integrity; Interpersonal Skills; Ability to adapt to multi- cultural settings; Communication Skills; Team Building and Problem Solving skills.
- Cadet Officers in scientific and professional fields must be prepared to work in a Penal Institution on general duties for at least two years before deployment to their respective areas of specialization.
Note:Applicants who shall not hear from the Prisons Authority on completion of the recruitment and selection exercise should consider themselves unsuccessful. .
