Uganda - Apply for Indexing of Veterinary Medicine student in Animal Health

Procedure[edit]

This application MUST be completed and submitted to the Registrar, Uganda Veterinary Board within 30 days following commencement of the training.
Apply In-Person:

  1. All veterinary students for medicine in animal health shall be indexed within one month from the date of admission.
  2. The students are supposed to make their applications to the Uganda Veterinary Board through the institution where he/she is admitted.You can visit the UVB website on the following Link Uganda Veterinary Board
  3. The student should approach their dean of student’s for an Application to be indexed as a student for Animal Health in a prescribed form. This form can also be obtained from Uganda Veterinary Board.
  4. The student should fill the application form and attach passport size photograph, national identity card copy, certificate/result slip and school leaving certificate.
  5. After this, the student should submit the application to the institution where he/she is admitted.
  6. The institution will forward the students application form to the Uganda Veterinary Board on the behalf of the students.
  7. The institution will then summarize the particulars of all the applicants and submit the summary together with student’s application to the board within 30 days from the date of admission.
  8. For the students to be indexed they must have met the minimum curriculum requirements for the course in which he or she is admitted as set by the board.
  9. The Board will go through the application and issue index numbers to the student and send the list of index numbers of the to the training institution.
  10. The students can pick their index number from the deans’ office.

  2. Certified UACE Examination Results Slip
  3. Secondary School Leaving Certificate
  4. (One) coloured passport size photograph
  5. Upon upgrading, applicants must attach copies of previous certificates/ qualifications and practice license

  • The index number is only valid and needed during the training period of the student and should be within one month from the date of admission.

Need for the Document[edit]

  • The index number is used to track the students’ progress through training and it’s used to determine your eligibility to sit for the Board’s licensing examination.
  • The UVB assigns each student an index number, which serves as a unique identifier for that individual through graduation and into their veterinary career

  • The Uganda veterinary Board assigns each student an index number, which serves as a unique identifier for that individual through graduation and into their veterinary career.
  • The Uganda Veterinary Board was established within the provisions of the Veterinary Surgeons Act of 1958.
  • All members are appointed by the Minister of Agriculture and must be registered veterinary surgeons.
  • In order to be qualified for registration as a veterinary surgeon an individual must hold a degree or diploma in veterinary science awarded by any university recognized by the Uganda Veterinary Board and must complete an internship of a type and for a period of time described by the bylaws of the Board.
  • In addition to the qualification requirements, if the Board determines that it is in the public’s best interest, it may grant a license to practice veterinary surgery to any individual who meets their requirements.
