Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. In order to apply for arm gun license in Tripura, applicant has to apply with the Arms Licensing branch of the concerned District magistrate administration office in the respective districts of Tripura.
2. Following link provides contact details: online link please select district menu option for drop down list of districts. Select the respective district to reach district portal. Here, select about district menu and hit the Who’s Who option to get the page for respective contact details.
3. Please approach the respective office as per the link above to get details and application form.

5. Make sure that applicant is eligible for applying.
6. Please make sure that the documents are in hand before applying.
7. Complete the application form and submit along with required documents to the authority.
8. After the application is received, proper entry of records in registry will be made and then request will be forwarded to process.
9. Application will be forwarded to local police station for verification.
10. Competent authorities make through assessments regarding
    1. threat based requirements of the arms by the applicant
    2. capabilities of use
    3. safe handling of the arms by the applicant
    4. physical fitness of the applicant for capabilities of handling the arms
    5. Background
    6. antecedent, etc..
11. The report will be sent to respective department.
12. An interview of the applicant is conducted before District Commissioner/magistrate or the respective authority.
13. On satisfactory ground based on the above process, the filled Arms License Book is issued to the applicant.
14. Then, the applicant has to purchase the weapon within six months of the issued date of the arms license book.
15. After purchasing the weapon, applicant has to come to the Arms Licensing Branch to submit the purchased weapon, submit an application for the entry of the weapon along with a receipt from the Gun house and the arms license book.
16. After internal processing and inspection, respective authority signs the arms license book, and the book is issued to the applicant.
17. Applicant should fill in NDAL (National Database on Arms License)Data Input Form : online link
18. Submit it to the Arms Act Department for uploading in the National Database and generate Unique ID.
    
    

Apply Online

1. To Apply or Renew Arms (Gun) License, the applicant has to use the following link – link
2. The applicant has to click the “State Home Department/DM/SDM/Other/MHA” button.
3. Now select the category, state, district, name of the licensing authority, and service.
4. The applicant has to enter the unique identification code (UIC), and captcha code and click the “Get Detail” button.
5. To complete step – 2, the applicant has to enter all the details in license specific details segment.
6. For the third step complete the endorsement details.
7. And upload all the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
8. Fee details will be mentioned in the following step; the applicant has to pay the fee online mode.
9. After completing all the processes, the applicant has to click the “Save & Submit” button.
10. An acknowledgment receipt will be downloaded. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
12. Once the process gets completed successfully, the applicant gets the cancellation firearm license with the authority's signature through email.
13. The processing time for this procedure is up to 45 days.

Apply for Renewal

1. Make sure you have the application form for applying. Link: form
2. Please make sure that the documents are in hand before applying.
3. Application for renewal of Arms License in the specified format should be submitted one month before the date of expiry of arms license.
4. The license should produce his/her weapon and license for inspection at the time of renewal and pay the renewal fees.
5. If the License is a senior citizen, the competent authority may verify physical fitness and mental alertness.
6. If required, address and current antecedent may be verified through local PS.
7. Renewal will be done immediately and the necessary remarks about renewal will be made in the license.

Apply for Renewal through online

1. Go to the online portal: Link
2. Please make sure that the required documents are scanned as per specification before applying.
3. Application for renewal of Arms License in the specified format should be submitted one month before the date of expiry of arms license.
4. Please follow the screen prompt by filling up required details, selecting the option from drop down list and uploading documents that are prompted for.
5. Once all the required details are complete, hit Submit to process the request online.
6. After successful submission of the application, please save the acknowledgement generated as well as take printout of the application, This will be required when applicant meets authorities after notification for processing.
7. It takes 15 days for renewal.

Eligibility

• The license authority shall refuse to grant a license:
  • Where such license is required in respect of any prohibited arms or prohibited ammunition
  • Where such is required by a person whom the licensing authority has reason to believe:
    • To be prohibited by the Indian Arms Rules or by any other law for the time being in force from acquiring, having in his possession or carrying any arms or ammunition.
    • To be of unsound mind.
    • To be for any reason unfit for a license.

Fees

• Fee information can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.
• Fees may vary in variation of the arms

Validity

• A license is valid for 3 years from the date on which it is granted (unless revoked earlier) and need to be renewed before one month of expiry
• License may be granted for a shorter period also, if the person by whom the license is required desires or if the licensing authority decides
• License is renewable from time to time - Even the authority can ask for renewal in between the renewal period for recording purpose

Need for the Document

• Arm license (also known as a gun license) is a license or permit issued by government to an eligible individual.
