ProcedureEdit

An application for registration of a Motor Vehicle shall be made to the Registering Authority within a period of 7 days from the date of delivery of such vehicle excluding the period of journey.

Apply In-Person

  1. To register a vehicle in Telangana the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office List
  2. Application Forms No 20 (PERMANENT REGISTRATION) is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : Application forms
  3. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  4. As a first step, please schedule an appointment at an appropriate date and time that is suitable for you. You will be able to book an appointment by visiting the following link given or by visiting your appropriate RTO office : Booking Slots Online
  5. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  7. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed.
  8. Pencil tracing of engine chassis number is the activity to record the chassis number against the registration number in the RTO register
  9. Authorities will inspect the vehicle and announce the registration number
  10. Applicant can collect the registration certificate RC by same day evening


Apply through State Portal

  1. Application for Permanent Vehicle Registration can be made through State Online Portal
  2. Click on the “Click here to book online slot” option.
  3. The applicant will be redirected to a new page.
  4. Please click the “New Vehicle registration” link that is displayed under the “Registration” section of the screen.
  5. Click on the “Slot Booking” option and follow the instructions on the page.
  6. Finally clicking on the “I Agree” option.
  7. In the next screen presented, fill in the mandatory details and request for OTP. Enter the Captcha.
  8. In the next page, you have to choose the day and time that you are planning to visit the RTO office related to the application and click “Next” button that is displayed on the bottom of the screen.
  9. Please follow the instructions that are displayed in the following pages for filling the application forms and making payments and uploading required documents.
  10. Take printout of the application form including acknowledgement and go to RTO office before 11:30 a.m. on the date of appointment and Present the completed application forms along with required documents in one of the counters and pay the appropriate fees.

  • Sales certificate in Form 21 .
  • Road worthiness certificate in Form 22 from the manufacturers.
  • Valid Insurance Certificate.
  • Proof of address (any one of the following): Ration Card / Electoral Roll / LIC Policy / Affidavit sworn by the applicant before an Executive or First Class Judicial)
  • Design approval copy of STA in case Trailar or Semi Trailar.
  • Original Sales Certificate from the concerned Authorities in Form 21 in the case of Ex_Army Vehicle.
  • Pollution Under control Certificate.
  • Customs Clearence Certificate in the case of Imported Vehicles.
  • Appropriate Fee as specified in Rule 81 of CMV Rules.
  • Tax as per APMVT(Telangana Motor Vehicle Taxation) Act.
  • Application in Form-20 (in duplicate if it is with HP)
  • Pollution under control and road worthiness certificate in Form-22 from manufacturer
  • Pollution under control and road worthiness certificate in Form-22 A, where body is fabricated
  • Aadhaar card
  • Chassis Number is the primary detail for applying
  • Pan card or GIR or Form-60/61 of I.T. Department
  • Passport size photos 3 copies.
  • Life Time Tax for Non Transport Vehicle.
  • Unloaded Weight Certificate for Transport Vehicle.
  • Permit sanctioned proceedings for Transport Vehicle.
  • Temporary Registration Certificate for temporarily registered vehicles.

Dealer is eligible to apply on behalf of the owner of the vehicle.

Registration of temporary registered vehicle - the owner may apply for registration.

ValidityEdit

In case of non transport vehicles like two wheelers and cars, the registration certificate is valid for 15 years from the date of first registration and it is renewed after every five subsequent years.

In case of transport vehicles like goods and passenger carriers the registration certificate is valid till certificate of fitness is valid.

Need for the DocumentEdit

All the vehicles need to be registered as per the Motor Vehicle Act,1988 . The vehicles are provided with unique registration number. Once the vehicle is registered, a certificate is issued to the owner. The registration certificate is used as a proof for authorized owner of the vehicle. Permanent registration is required for the Temporary registered Vehicle Vehicle registration's purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners. It is a requirement by the state. After one register his / her vehicle – He / She will receive a unique number to use it in number board When a bike owned by a individual sold to another person – the name transfer has to be made with the authorities concerned
