Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew Private Pilot Licence (PPL) in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.
2. Renewed application form can be obtained by visiting the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Branch Offices.

4. Applicant has to enter all the information in the renewed application form.
5. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. After filling the renewal application form the applicant is required to submit them to the GCAA office and the applicant are also to proceed to pay the prescribed application fees and submit the payment receipt to together with the application documents.
8. A processing time of 7 days is needed to complete the processing of the renewal application, after which the applicant will be contacted through a phone call to collect his/her renewed license at the GCAA offices.
9. The applicant will be required to carry his/her identification documents when collecting applicant’s renewed license.

Required Documents

• Renewal application form.
• Copy of current Private Pilot License (PPL)
• A well completed summary of the flying experience form.
• A valid Class I medical certificate.
• A completed the prescribed summary of the flying experience form which should indicate that the Pilot has the required 5 hours within the preceding 12 months.
• A certified logbook or other flight record to substantiate the 5 PIC hours required for renewal of a PPL. The log book is to be certified by the instructor or the chief pilot, by endorsing his signature and license number, indicating what he is certifying.
• Copies of the last 2 pages of the applicant’s log book.
• Two (2) current passport size photographs (full face).
• Proof of identification documents (Identity card or passport).
• Payment receipt of the prescribed fees.

• Complete the prescribed renewal application form.
• Pay the renewal applicable fees and submit the payment receipt.
• Wait for the processing period to elapse then collect applicant’s renewed license.
