Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for registering a Motor Vehicle in Tanzania is available in Tanzania Revenue Authority contact link
2. Applicant must provide all information in the application form.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all documents that are necessary for completing this procedure.
4. Documents that are needed for completing this procedure is mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Applicant must attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting it.
6. Fee for this procedure is listed under “Fee” section of this page.
7. If all above-mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, concerned authorities will provide notification to the applicant regarding the availability of the registered document within 1 week.
8. Applicant can visit the office to collect their document after getting the notification.
9. If there is no information regarding the document is provided, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of their application.

Eligibility

• For registering a motor vehicle, the person should be 18 years and above.
• For registering a motor cycle, the person should be 14 years and above.

Fees

• Motor vehicles – TZS 250,000/-
• Motor cycles – TZS 95,000/-

Validity

• Personalized registration number renewable after every three years.
