Apply In-Person:

  1. Application form for obtaining marriage certificate in Tanzania is available in Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) contact link
  2. Applicant must get complete and submit the Form RGM12, which is given in the “Documents to use” section of this page along with all necessary information in the form.
  3. Applicant must make sure to carry photocopies and originals of all documents that are necessary for completing this procedure.
  4. Documents that are necessary for completing this procedure is mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Applicant must attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the submitting process.
  6. Fee for this procedure is Tsh 200,000/- which has to be paid at the office.
  7. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, marriage certificate will be provided to them during the wedding ceremony.

  • Written consent from the parent/guardian confirming that the applicant is not married.

  • Notarized copies of both birth certificates

  • The marriage certificate is valid forever until one of the spouse dies or gets a divorce.

  • Applicant must provide genuine information while applying for this procedure.
  • Applicant should make sure to follow all instructions as mentioned by concerned authorities properly.
  • Both parties must be at least 18 years of age and must get in touch with the registrar of marriages to register and legalize their union.
