This procedure explains various ways to raise a request for the shifting of the electric transformer.

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply In-Person, you should visit the allocated EB office for your location. You can find the office location and contact details in the “TNEBNET” website. Contacts
  2. In-Person application is allowed only when there is no response from the online complaint registration.
  3. While applying in the “In-Person” mode, the consumer should write an official letter with the required details to the personnel such as ASSISTANT ENGINEER (AE), ASSISTANT DIVISIONAL ENGINEER (ADE), and CHIEF ENGINEER (CE) in the local Electric Board location.
  4. All the details of the officials can be viewed in the “REACH US” section of the TANGEDCO website. In the drop down menu, you have to click “CONTACT INFORMATION”.
  5. In that you can see the information for each region under the “FUSE OF CALL CENTRES” section.
  6. You can find the ADE, CE, and AE contact details, location and personal Mail-IDs in the “DISTRIBUTION REGIONS” menu under the “DISTRIBUTION DIRECTORS” section.
  7. Along with the written request letter for the shifting of the electric transformer, you also have to submit the filled-in CGRF form.
  8. The CGRF form can be downloaded at this link under the ANNEXURE-I section. Form
  9. Also, you have to produce the payment slip in the Demand Draft (DD) format along with the form.
  10. After giving the form, they will provide you with the COMPLAINT NUMBER, COMPLAINT DATE, and the NATURE OF THE COMPLAINT slip with the payment details.
  11. You have to keep those details safe for future verification and reference purposes.


Apply Online:

  1. You can raise a request for a shift of the electric transformer in the official TANGEDCO website. Website Address
  2. You have to select the “REACH US” menu and then in the drop down menu, you have to click “Consumer’s Complaint”.
  3. In that menu you can find a link for the “Click here to register/Login” option. You have to click that and it will take you to the next page.
  4. If you are a new consumer then you should select the option “New User-Register Here”, and create the “User-Id and Password” using an active Email ID.
  5. If you already have the “User-Id and Password”, you have to just login into the website.
  6. After Logging in to the site, in the “QUICK PAY” section, you should enter your “CONSUMER SERVICE NUMBER” details along with the “REGION CODE” from the given drop-down section.
  7. After that, you have to click the “GENERAL COMPLAINTS” options in the menu.
  8. In the “GENERAL COMPLAINTS”, you will find the options like “SERVICE NUMBER, PAYMENT RELATED, and GENERAL COMPLAINTS”.
  9. You have to click the “TICK MARK” under the “GENERAL COMPLAINTS”
  10. It will take you to the “REGISTRATION FORM” page.
  11. In the “REGISTRATION FORM”, you have to enter the details such as:
  12. From address – (Enter your EMAIL ID)
  13. Consumer Service Number –(Enter your service Number)
  14. Complaint Category – (Choose “SHIFTING”)
  15. Message (Maximum 150 words) – You have to explain the reasons and other details regarding the shifting of the electric transformer with a maximum of 150 words.
  16. After entering the details in the “REGISTRATION FORM”, you have to click the “SUBMIT” button.
  17. After the submission of the “REGISTRATION FORM”, you will get details as text message.
  18. You will get the details such as:
  19. COMPLAINT ID
  20. COMPLAINT DATE
  21. NATURE OF REQUEST
  22. REQUEST STATUS
  23. You have to save these details for future verification and reference purposes.
  24. You will also receive all these details as an e-mail in your registered mail-ID.
  25. You can also mail your request/complaint to the TANGEDCO official personnel such as ASSISTANT ENGINEER (AE), ASSISTANT DIVISIONAL ENGINEER (ADE), and CHIEF ENGINEER (CE) in the local Electric Board location.

Apply through 24/7 portal:
To raise a request for the shifting of the electric transformer, you can complain/request through the customer service panel, which was recently introduced by the Government of Tamil Nadu. This service was introduced in June 2021.

  1. The 24/7 customer service portal can be used to register for a new EB connection and as well as for raising complaints related to Electricity in Tamil Nadu.
  2. The 24/7 Customer Executive Number is “9498794987”.
  3. You can register your request for shifting the electric transformer with the given customer support number.
  4. After your registration, you will receive a message from the “TANGEDCO” with the COMPLAINT NUMBER, COMPLAINT DATE, and the NATURE OF THE COMPLAINT.
  5. You have to keep those details safe for future verification and reference purposes.
  6. The government has announced that complaints raised through the 24/7 customer service portal would be addressed within 2-3 working days.

Processing TimeEdit

  • As per the TANGEDCO’s information, shifting of the electric transformer structure will take about 90 days.
  • The shifting work will be carried out only after the due charges are paid for the services to be undertaken.
  • In the “In-Person” application method, it will take about 7-60 days from the date of raising the complaint.
