Tamil Nadu - Complaint Interruption or Failure in Power (Electricity) Supply

ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To lodge a complaint against interruption or failure in electricity supply, a complaint shall be lodged at the Fuse off call centre of the particular area, or any centralised complaint centre of the Licensee.
  2. Refer to the ‘Office Locations & Contacts’ section for contacts and address information.
  3. The licensee needs to provide few details like name, address, consumer number, and brief description of the complaint.
  4. The complaint can be lodged either in writing or over telephone.
  5. The operator on duty at the FOC centre will register the complaint and intimate a complaint number and restore power supply within the designated time period mentioned in the ‘Processing time’ section of this procedure.
  6. In the case of non-response or inadequate response by the Fuse off Call Centre / centralized complaint centre, the licensee may lodge complaint with the Section Officer in charge of the area.
  7. The complaint to the Section Officer should be made either in writing or by telephone.
  8. Section Officer should register the complaint and intimate the complaint No. in every case.
  9. The Section Officer should ensure rectification of the fault within the time stipulated above.
  10. In case of major failure involving transformers or 11 kV feeders including the terminal equipment or both, it should also be rectified within the period specified.
  11. In case the complaint is not rectified within the stipulated period, a complaint can be made to the Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADE) of the area in the format at Annexure-I.
  12. ADE shall acknowledge the complaint and take immediate action to restore the supply the same day.
  13. In case the complaint is not resolved within a day by the ADE, the consumer can complain to the officer of next higher level i.e., the Divisional Engineer/Operation (DE/O) (head of electricity supply division) who shall not only arrange for immediate restoration but also investigate into the delays caused in attending to the complaint.

Apply through Electricity Call Centers:

  1. The licensee of Tamil Nadu can also register their complaints through the Electricity Call Centres that are setup to receive complaints round the clock.
  2. The licensees can complaint via telephone, email or fax. Telephone no. Is 1912 specifically for receiving power supply related issues or complaints.
  3. The registered complaints are then forwarded to the field personnel for timely rectification and action which is regularly tracked and updated.
  4. The licensee or customer can also track their registered complaint status by regularly contacting the electricity call centre personnel.
  5. The complaint is immediately taken care of and is resolved within the specified time period.
  6. In case the complaint is not resolved within specific time period, the complaint is escalated and forwarded to the notice of higher authorities for expediting the resolution procedure.

Apply Online (TANGEDCO):

  1. To register your complaint online, navigate to the link: Apply Online
  2. Scroll down to Consumer Services and click on ‘Consumer Complaints’.
  3. You will reach to the guidelines for online registration of consumer complaints.
  4. To begin with, click on “Click here to register/login.”
  5. Sign up with the valid Consumer ID, Email, unique username and password.
  6. Once registration is complete, the licensee will receive an email for validation.
  7. Click on the link received for validation to login.
  8. Login through the authenticated username/password and register your complaint following the steps on the screen after login.

Rs.25 for each six hours (or part thereof) of delay in restoration of supply subject to a maximum of Rs.500 for LT connection and Rs. 50 for each six hours (or part thereof) of delay in restoration of supply subject to a maximum of Rs.1,000 for LT connection.
