To apply for a Transport or a Commercial driver license in Tamil Nadu the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office List
Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.

The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for the license by verifying the appropriate application form. The requirements will be listed out in the application forms..
Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
Present the completed application forms along with required documents in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.

Apply Online:

To apply for TR (Transport, Commercial) driver license, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
Please follow the steps to complete the application.

A Valid local address proof.
One year old Indian driver license.
